In the vibrant Malaysian independent music landscape, Mascot emerged as a force to be reckoned with in March 2022. Their debut 4-track EP, Penutup, marked a significant turning point. Rooted in the stylistic nuances of Midwest Emo, the EP resonated deeply with listeners, setting the stage for what was to come.
Just two months later, in June 2022, Mascot unveiled their debut full length album, Permulaan. Comprising ten tracks, this album transcended mere musical expression. It was a canvas upon which the band painted their youthful exuberance, blending punchy rhythms, lively melodies, and an indie sensibility infused with elements of midwest and math rock. Critical acclaim followed, solidifying Mascot’s position as a rising star.
